My friend Lynette has tagged me. I'd say the last time I was tagged was when I was in college playing with a bunch of friends on the lawn at the state capitol, but that would be a lie. The last time I was tagged was probably about a month ago when I was at home playing with a bunch of pre-schoolers. Of course, this tag is way more fun for big people.
10 Years Ago:
1998--we had been living in our first home for almost a year enjoying our three little kids. Dalin had just been baptized (keep in mind he was just sustained as an elder on Sunday!), Cassie was in kindergarten, and Shaina was four! I was teaching about 12 piano students and was the primary president. Brent had been at Goicoechea for three years and was working with the youth. Nothing too exciting, I guess.
Things on my to-do list Today:
1. Go to the high school to play the piano for the Concert and Advanced Women's Choirs
2. Meet up with Laurie and Jensen for lunch at Costco to pick up laundry soap (gotta love Costco for lunch. . .)
3. Go back to the school to play for the Select Treble Choir
4. Pick up Jensen at Laurie's and meet my mom in Meridian at Jared and Maren's old house to do some painting
5. Go home finally to watch American Idol
What would I do if I suddenly became a Billionaire:
1. Pay off my house(s), my brothers' houses, Brent's parent's house, heck. . .why not as many houses as possible?
2. I agree with Lynette, TRAVEL. Having not been out of the U.S., I would love to go somewhere, anywhere, especially on a mission with Brent
3. Donate to leukemia, alzheimers, and autism research
4. Send Brent back to school to get his teaching certificate so he could do what he loves--work with kids
5. Ok, I would buy a Mercedes convertible and a new T-bird
6. I would love to have the disposable income to just help people out when they are in need
3 Bad Habits:
1. Emotional eating--I go straight to the fridge if I'm bored or upset
2. Dropping my clothes wherever I take them off (although since we have moved into the new house, I have been better about picking them up every couple days)
3. Drinking Diet Dr. Pepper, fully leaded
3 Places I've Lived:
1. Salem, Oregon
2. Provo, Utah
3. Weiser, Idaho
5 Jobs I've Had:
1. Reading/Writing tutor at BYU (best paying job on campus!)
2. Freshman Honors English teacher at BYU
3. Receptionist/go-fer in high school for a construction company (in Garden City--very scary! but there was a Red Steer a couple doors down that I went to all of the time for the most excellent root beer shakes)
4. Piano teacher
5. Contract editor for the Oregon Dept. of Transportation
5 Things people don't know about me:
1. I had red hair for a year (hey, I think that was in 1998!)
2. I don't crack my knuckles, but my jaw and ankles pop enough to make up for it
3. I won a writing contest while a junior at BYU which paid for my senior year
4. I had scarlet fever as a child (quarantined and everything) which left me with a mildly prolapsed mitral valve in my heart
5. I would rather do anything in my house but cook or mop (I like ironing--I iron all of Brent and Dalin's shirts)
Alright Marisa, Maren, and Lauralee. . . YOU'RE IT!

Love your tag too!!! You girls are way to fast! Fun to learn about everyone!!!
How was all your practicing today? Hope it is going good!!!
This is such a fun post! I thought I knew you inside and out. A few of my impressions:
1. I know you're a terrific writer but I had no idea you won a scholarship with your writing. I want to know more.
2. I covet your trip to Costco.
3. For obvious reasons I hope you suddenly become a billionaire.
4. I've never heard about your bout with scarlet fever. How did you get it? How long did it last?
5. I've never thought about donating to medical research. Why did you choose leukemia, autism and alzheimers? I love this idea.
P.S. I think Jay and Jared should be tagged as well. Does Cash and Brent have secret BLOGS somewhere? I'd love to hear their answers. How about mom?
Wow, scarlet fever. Scary. I took freshman honors English at BYU. I would have loved to have you as a teacher. NOT that you are that old or anything... :)
I meant do!!! Do Cash and Brent have secret blogs?
Okay, I finally got back into this blog thing, found your blog again and now I think I am addicted. Anna and I sat and read up on everything we have missed in the past few weeks. It is so fun to read all about the family! We miss you so much. I realized that we are still very similar (remember our profiles when we were paired at BYU). I will have to try some rice krispies in my chocolate chips!;) If I were a billionaire I think I would start renovating every slum area I could find and make sure everyone is trained and WORKING in their ideal job! Weird huh? Love you all!
Kim
Ok, does Brent love 3.2? ;)
disregard previous comment.
Does Brent love 3 bad habits #2? ;)
I just started the book yesterday so I'm only 140 pages into it. I am on Goodreads. I tried to find you but your name didn't come up when I searched. What's your email address? Maybe I can find you that way.
Also, very sound advice on my blog. I remember in high school when my older brother and sister were doing (and selling drugs), stealing and committing every other sin under the sun, one of the moms in the ward took it on herself to "get me to open up." I remember her sitting in my room which seemed like forever wanting me to talk to her about how I felt about things and I just didn't want to talk to her. It was so uncomfortable and awkward for me. I just wanted her to leave. Teenagers are definitely a breed in and of themselves. How hard for you to be so young when that happened.
I read that comment on Lauralee's blog. LIAR! HAHAHA. I laughed right out loud. No offense, but your kids must not be too bright. Mine take inventory of their candy.
Hope that billionaire thing works out for you. (and then me).
Your bad habit is emotional eating. I win.
Mine is just plain old eating. I've been trying to stop for a while, but I just get hungry and I feel compelled to start again. Lauralee says I need to stop buying bags of Doritos for my desk, and that walking from my truck to the office doesn't count as exercise. Ok, so I stopped with the Doritos, but I've got to get my exercise somewhere. If not, Grandad will tell me I'm too fat again when we come home for summer. Or maybe he'll try whispering it in his "soft voice" to Mary. Haha.
This is so fun! I love reading all of your stuff, you make me laugh!! Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to make mine as fun as yours! I sure do miss you guys!
I loved reading about you! Thanks for your comments on our blog and for the birthday wish!
Why would you donate money to leukemia, autism, and alzheimers?
